QC-San Jose Del Monte Bulacan-QC Bike Loop Route
Last Aug 24, 2014 we tried a route of about 63km in distance.
Not all of the group made it due to unavoidable circumstances, so 3 of us still embarked on the journey.
The day started out cloudy around 6:30am, but by the time we were halfway to our destination, the sun
came out! The place we went to was the "Groto" in San Jose, Bulacan.
Going back to Quezon City thru the Marilao route was tough because of the traffic, it was a two lane
road and to add up to the mayhem where some road repairs. After that it was all smooth sailing.
Below is the route map and some pictures also.

Heroes Trail, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig 08/10/2014
Our Team met at Mall of Asia around 7:30am, specifically at Jettis Gas station.
After having a light breakfast, we headed towards the trail, passed by Buendia Avenue then headed
right towards Pasong Tamo extension, up to Fort Bonifacio, ask around where the trail is until we
found the site.
It was already around 10:30am and the place was scorching! Rested for awhile before we tried on the
trail. The place has a decent single track with some manageable uphill climbs and drops.
The track by the way is beside the "Libingan ng mga Bayani".
One tip though, if you plan to go here, try to be earlier or try it in the later part of the afternoon
because the heat was zapping our strength, and we had to bike home all the way to Quezon City.
All in all, it was a fun experience!

Sports Injury 08/ 08/ 2014
Last week I bruised my left heel from sprinting a couple of 100 meter dash training.
Looks like a week of rest for me, no runs until this is healed.
Went trail and urban biking last weekend, will post pictures soon!

The Recently Concluded Manila - Tagaytay - Manila Bike Ride
This was my first Tagaytay bike ride, together with my bike group "Delta Riders" we joined a big group of riders one morning sponsored by the distributors of Mars Kingdom Bicycles. it was a 120km plus ride with uphill climbs in the scorching heat.
Here are some pictures of us leaving Roxas Boulevard going to Las PiƱas.
and on the way to tagatay via Aguinaldo Hiway...
It was a hard climb for me because it was my first try. I only wish that it was cloudy or a drizzle might have helped. I did 5 stops taking my breath and stops because my right thigh was already cramping. Good thing my friend Dennis brought some relaxing muscle gel.
On the way to Tagaytay and reaching it by noontime, wow that was long! :-)
I hope to comeback to Tagaytay and maybe just bring a water bottle and a tirepatch and leave my backpack behind! :-)

How The Weather Affects My Running
Just to give you an idea on how weather affects my running performance.
Last November/December, as I was still using a running app on my iphone,
you can still clearly notice my time logs and distances.
Cool weather helps me cope better in running.

And now comes summer in the tropics, my July entry below shows how the hot and humid
weather here in Manila affects my perfomance. I’ve been reading a lot about training in the heat, and there is one positive note about it, training in the heat will give you a better result during race days or fun runs during the colder seasons. But, always listen to your body during training and never overtrain during hot days.
And a reminder to always hydrate (one that I’m guilty of).
